A Car Show with a Purpose
Today, beginning around May 1st, you can find a car show every day of the week, and sometimes more than one on any given day. Many venues use the car show as a fund-raiser for local charities or churches. Sometimes you will find a car show dedicated to the memory of a loved one, or someone instrumental in the car culture hobby. One such car show, dedicated to a loved one’s memory, is taking on steam. This is a small, backyard show, limited in size but unlimited in heart. Open to all, with pre-show application, some rare cars have been seen in the yard. Started by Dean and Christine Scherrer, in the Summer of 2016, to remember Dean’s car-loving brother, who sadly passed at a way-too-early age. The event entitled, “Cars-in-the-Yard”, presented by the “Empty-Pockets-Car-Club”, is a DJ inspired, fun-filled Back-Yard BB-Q Party on steroids. A wide variety of Cars is the pièce de résistance! “Cars-in-the-Yard” takes place the Sunday following the Woodward Dream Cruise, while cars are still in show-n-shine condition. A DJ plays oldies-but-goodies, while cars glisten in the afternoon sun and friends & neighbors enjoy the terrific cuisine.
